SWAN transforms military culture by securing equal opportunity and freedom to serve without discrimination, harassment or assault; and to reform veterans' services to ensure high quality healthcare and benefits for women veterans and their families.
SWAN’s Fellowship for Women Veterans is designed for future leaders who are passionate about affecting change in these important issues.
The goal of the Fellowship is to create and develop women veteran leaders by equipping them with the tools and knowledge required to be effective voices and advocates. Participants will engage in a leadership development course that combines policy analysis, strategies for policy change, and practical leadership exercises. Upon completion, the cohort will remain connected to SWAN and have an opportunity to work on future issues.
The leadership development course will take place in New York City, beginning in June and ending in August 2015. It will encompass six sessions and one capstone project. The sessions will focus on critical issues related to service women, women veterans, and policies that expand women’s opportunity to serve and to lead in the armed forces.
Qualifications: Applicants must be a veteran and currently enrolled in graduate level courses. Those with a bachelor’s degree and equivalent experience will also be considered. The fellowship includes a stipend for those who are selected.
