Residency in a St. Catharine College Residence Hall
1. Athletes
The College requires all students on athletic scholarship who are unmarried and have no dependent children to live on campus unless living at home with parents or a guardian. Anyone who has been a resident and wishes to change to commuter status must seek permission to do so from the Residence Life Office.
2. Full-Time Requirement
Residents must be full-time students or have special permission. In order for a student to qualify as full-time for residential living purposes, he/she must be registered for 12 or more semester hours. If a full-time student is registered for an 8-week term(s) within a semester and is carrying less than six hours in that term and less than six hours in the full 16-week semester, he/she must have approval to live in the halls.Appeals for special circumstances (enrollment of less than 6 hours in a given 8-week term without at least 6 hours in 16-week courses) must be submitted to Residence Life with 1) a letter of appeal from the student outlining the special circumstances, 2) a letter from the student’s academic advisor addressing the academic circumstances necessitating the scheduling, 3) written approval from the student’s coach (if applicable), and 4) a completed behavior contract (which can be obtained from Residence Life). Formal approval will come from Residence Life and the Dean of Students.Any person who drops below full-time status or is not attending regularly AND participating appropriately in class is subject to dismissal from the residence hall (see Residence Life Handbook). Special permissions are sometimes given under unusual circumstances with formal approval from Residence Life and the Dean of Students. It does not reflect a change in policy. If the resident is a College employee with special permission, the end of the College employment subjects him/her to dismissal from the residence halls.
3. Residence Hall Rules
Everyone in the residence halls, including non-resident SCC students and guests, are subject to the rules of the residence halls (see Residence Life Handbook).

St. Catharine College strives to provide a healthy environment for student growth, both academic and personal. Creating a pleasant environment requires more than compliance with the rules. Because community living requires cooperation, acceptance for a residency status is considered a privalege rather than a right.

In accepting this agreement, the applicant understand that the applicant is entering into a contract with St. Catharine College for housing accommodations in a residence hall in accordance with conditions stated in the student handbook as well as the residence life handbook.
