    • Do you feel the coverage listed on the declarations page is enough to rebuild your home?

Updates to your home can cause the replacement cost of your home to exceed your coverage.

    • Is your home titled the same way it is listed on the declarations page of your insurance policy?

Homes put in the name of a trust or other entity should be discussed with us to ensure proper coverage

If so, you may qualify for a credit on your Homeowners Policy.

This protection class is based on your local fire department and community water supply. An improved rating can lower your premium. Notify us directly as insurance companies often do not update this automatically.

    • Have you replaced your roof recently?

Some carriers offer a credit for newer roofs. If you have replaced your roof, be sure to let us know.

    • Personal Property / Scheduled Items
    • Personal Property

    • Is your Personal Property limit enough to replace all of your belongings in the event of a total loss? Do you keep any personal property in a self-storage unit?

For most Homeowners policies, this is set at an arbitrary limit (usually 50-70% of dwelling coverage). Personal Property in a self-storage unit is limited to 10% of Personal Property coverage. These limits can be increased.

    • Scheduled Items / Special Limits

    • See more about scheduling items here.

    • Do you need to update the values of scheduled items on your policy?

Items scheduled based on an old appraisal may not be enough to replace your valuables.

The standard Homeowners policy provides $1,500 per theft loss of jewelry.  This is not per piece, but max for the entire loss.

    • Do you have any collectibles such as antiques, coin collections or fine arts?

Scheduling these items can broaden coverage and prevent arguments over valuation after a loss.

The NC Homeowners policy provides 10% of your personal property coverage limit (up to $10,000) for theft of firearms.

Your Homeowners policy provides 25% of your personal property coverage limit (up to $10,000) for theft of silverware.

    • Do you keep more than $200 at home?

Your Homeowners policy provides $200 in coverage for money and gift cards. This includes unscheduled coin collections. This coverage may be increased slightly, but it is costly for the amount of coverage provided.

    • Do you have hearing aids that need coverage?

Scheduling your hearing aid can offer a lower deductible and expand covered perils.

    • Do you do business at home or keep more than $2,500 in property on premises that is primarily used for business?
